Princess Anne Debuts First Hair Makeover in 50 Years in New Portrait For Milestone Birthday

Princess Anne will celebrate her milestone 75th birthday on August 15.

Ahead of her big day, on August 8, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of the Princess Royal with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

The photo, taken by Getty Images' Chris Jackson before the July State Banquet at Windsor Castle for French President Emmanuel Macron, shows Anne looking elegant and poised.

What especially caught the attention of royal watchers, however, was her hair transformation.

After nearly five decades with her trademark bouffant, Anne swapped it for a sleek chignon at the banquet.

Princess Eugenie Posts Sweet Birthday Tribute for Beatrice — But It Stirs Up Trouble for Dad Andrew

Princess Beatrice turned 37 on August 8, and Princess Eugenie paid tribute to her beloved 'Beabea' by sharing sweet pictures on Instagram.

She penned, "Happy happy birthday to my dearest Beabea... my big sissy, the best in the entire world."

In one of the photos, the York sisters were seen relishing the Italian snack, paninis, in a restaurant, which caught the attention of royal watchers.

The image brought back memories of Prince Andrew’s infamous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, in which he denied being involved with an underage Virginia Giuffre, claiming he was instead at Pizza Express with Beatrice at the time.

Queen Elizabeth Took Curtsying 'Very Seriously' But One Royal Overdid It, Claims Author

Navigating royal etiquette can feel like tiptoeing through a field of social landmines, especially when it comes to the age-old tradition of curtsying or bowing.

Queen Elizabeth II famously took this royal etiquette 'very seriously'.

She reportedly expected everyone around her to observe the tradition to the letter, even from her sister, Princess Margaret, to her mother, the Queen Mother.

For her, these gestures of respect weren’t optional relics; they were living symbols of monarchy and authority that she enforced, even when some in her circle felt the practice was “roughly a couple of centuries out of date.”

Among all royals, Princess Anne may have been the most thorough in her observance of these traditions, taking it too far.
