Fourteen years in, and William is still Kate’s fiercest bodyguard.

According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, William, haunted by the media’s treatment of his mother, Diana, has always vowed to shield his wife from the same fate.

This resolve came into play in 2012 during the couple’s trip to France when the press took compromising photos of the Princess and published them. In a scathing statement, the Prince called out the breach of privacy, stressing that the disgraceful pictures were ‘all the more painful’ due to his mother's death in Paris in 1997.
